The small town of Klishchiivka, located south of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, was reportedly taken over by Russian forces, according to Russian proxy forces in eastern Ukraine on Friday.
The assertion was made by Russian-backed forces in Donetsk, one of four districts that Moscow claims to have annexed since the start of the conflict in Ukraine. Most UN members have dismissed these claims as unlawful.
Around 400 people lived in Klishchiivka before to the war. It is situated about 6 miles (9 km) south of Bakhmut, where Ukrainian soldiers and members of the Russian Wagner mercenary group have been engaged in a protracted struggle.
On Thursday, Wagner claimed that Klishchiivka had been seized. The combat claims could not be independently.
