The BRIT Awards 2018 are almost here, so it’s time to take a look back at the best BRIT Awards ceremonies in the past before this year’s winners and performers take the stage.
1. Robbie Williams: 18 BRIT Awards
The “Take The Crown” artist, who won his first BRIT in 1998 and has continued to win awards ever since, is still without a doubt the uncontested king of the ceremony! He won the coveted “BRITs Icon” award in 2017, which was his most recent victory.
2. Coldplay – 9 BRIT Awards
Having nine BRIT Awards under your belt is no small accomplishment, but Coldplay has been a staple at the BRITs since the release of their first album in 2001. They have won Best British Group a record FOUR times in total, most recently in 2016.
3. Adele – 9 BRIT Awards
A true modern-day BRITs queen, Adele made headlines in 2012 when she took home the coveted BRITs Global Success Award and won Best British Album for “21.” We never imagined such a successful sweep would occur again, but in 2016 she shocked us by winning three of the four awards she was nominated for.
4. Take That – 8 BRIT Awards
The boys won Best British Single for “Could It Be Magic” back in 1993, when they were still in their infancy. Fast forward 20 years, and Take That has amassed 8 awards overall, including Best British Group in 2011.
5. Annie Lennox – 8 BRIT Awards
Before Adele even applied to BRIT School, Annie Lennox was the unquestioned BRIT Awards queen. In her career spanning three decades, she has won an astonishing 8 times!
6. Arctic Monkeys – 7 BRIT Awards
The biggest musical export from Sheffield has done fairly well for itself. Seven BRIT Awards were won by Alex Turner and company, who also performed a fairly smooth mic drop after winning Best British Album in 2014. Image: Getty
7. One Direction – 7 BRIT Awards
One Direction has amassed awards for Best British Single in 2012, BRITs Global Success in 2013 and 2014, and British Video in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 during the course of their amazing career. That is now a truly impressive feat.
8. U2 – 7 BRIT Awards
The BRIT Prizes’ most successful global artist is perennial Irish rock band U2, which won a respectable 7 awards.
9. Michael Jackson – 6 BRIT Awards
In addition to his incredible BRITs collection of six trophies, MJ is one of the very few artists to take home every prize for which he was nominated. He received five regular victories in addition to the prized “Artist Of A Generation” Award in 1996, which was crowned by an outstanding performance.
10. Oasis – 6 BRIT Awards
The former Britpop icons have received six BRIT Awards over their career, including the memorable BRITs Album Of 30 Years award in 2010 for their influential album “(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?”.
