Dakota Johnson is telling fans the “bare” truth about her experience working on the “Fifty Shades of Grey” series.
During an interview with Vanity Fair published Tuesday, Johnson discussed what it was like to film the steamy romantic plays based on E.L. James’ novel series.
“I’m a sexual person, and when I’m interested in anything, I want to know all there is to know about it,” Johnson said of her fascination with the flicks. “That’s why I made those large nude videos.
” However, the 32-year-old actress stated that she “signed up to do a completely different version of the picture we ended up doing,” which she attributes to a variety of internal variables, including James’ degree of creative control throughout production.
“She had a lot of creative control, all day, every day,” Johnson explained. “There were portions of the novels that would never work in a film, such as the inner monologue, which was at times really corny. Saying it aloud wouldn’t work. It was always a struggle.
” The 2015 film “Fifty Shades of Grey,” directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and centered on the romance between literature student Anastasia Steele (Johnson) and millionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan), who has a passion for BDSM. The film was followed by two sequels, both directed by James Foley: “Fifty Shades Darker” in 2017 and “Fifty Shades Freed” in 2018.
